DGNB System gains foothold in Denmark - Eight projects launched in pilot phase
In the summer of 2011, Denmark's Green Building Council made the decision to use the system of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) to certify its sustainable buildings. According to Denmark's Green Building Council, the forward-looking and integrated approach of the DGNB system – which takes future EU regulations into account – was a key factor. The first pilot projects have now been launched.

EXPO REAL 2011: Certified Objects
About 50 buildings are to be awarded a DGNB Certificate or Pre-certificate at EXPO REAL 2011 in Munich. The DGNB will for the first time be honouring mixed city districts, existing buildings and master plans for structurally identical buildings in different locations.

DGNB at a glance
The beginning: The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) was founded in Stuttgart on 25 June 2007. In an effort to promote sustainable building, the Council resolved to develop a certification system to honour particularly environmentally friendly, economically efficient buildings that conserve resources and have been optimized in terms of user comfort – the DGNB Certificate. 120 members attended the DGNB kick-off event in Berlin in January 2008; by June 2011 this number had grown to over 1050.

new online database for building productsStuttgart, June 29, 2011. Architects and planners are confronted with an overabundance of building products in their day-to-day work. The wide range of information issued by manufacturers, eco-labels and declarations make it difficult to make the right choice sometimes. Without an easily accessible, reliable overview of the sustainability aspects of different products, searching is often very time-consuming and laborious. The DGNB - German Sustainable Building Council - is now closing this gap by presenting its new online database - the DGNB Navigator.

DGNB system in international demand: DGNB certificates in Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland soon to be followed by Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia and China.
Stuttgart, June 29, 2011. All of the relevant international certification systems were subjected to a year-long intensive trial and testing process before Denmark's Green Building Council finally decided in favor of the system developed by the DGNB - German Sustainable Building Council - which will be used for future building certification assessments in Germany's northern neighbor.
